Blazers star guard Damian Lillard requested a trade following the first day of free agency. Lillard had previously met with Blazers general manager Joe Cronin along with his agent to discuss his displeasure with the Blazers drafting players instead of trading for veterans.

He had given the Blazers a prior ultimatum that they trade the upcoming picks for a second star and or talented veterans to bulk up the team and help them compete. He stated that if the Blazers didn’t trade the picks, they would have “another conversation.”

Lillard reportedly gave the Blazers a small list of teams with Miami and Brooklyn among his top preferences.
