Blazers Hire Director of Basketball Innovation

Blazersland.com Editor-in-chief, Chris Craig, was born in Texas but has been a Blazer fan since he can remember. He grew up in Portland, playing street ball on the local court. He has played and coached at the high school level. He received a bachelor’s in English from Portland State University.

The Portland Trail Blazers have hired James Brocato as Director of Basketball Innovation.

Brocato was previously with the Dallas Mavericks as Director of Basketball Analytics. He joined the Mavericks in 2013 as an analytics associate before receiving a promotion in 2015.

He replaces Alexander Powell who was the Blazers Director of Basketball Innovations since 2024. He left the organization to take the position of Director of Basketball at Duke.
