The Portland Trail Blazers got tricks instead of treats in their Halloween matchup against the Hornets. It was a monster mash, a graveyard smash, as Charlotte buried the Blazers in a birrage of threes to win it 125 – 113.

The Blazers weathered a three point monsoon from the Hornets in the first half, helped by an 7-0 second chance points advantage, but the downpour continued into the latter part of the game with the Hornets hitting 20 three pointers on 42 attempts. The Blazers managed 17 makes on 54 attempts. The near 50% mark by Charlotte was enough to keep Portland winless on the road and continue their red hot start to the season. They improve to 5-2 as the Blazers drop to 3-3.

CJ McCollum led the Blazers with 25 points. Lillard and Powell added 14 a piece. Nurkic finished with a double double of 13 pts and 14 rebounds. Simons 19 off the bench. Cody Zeller, who returned to play against his former team for the first time, suffered a facial laceration and bled for the third time on the court this season. A bump to the mask caused a cut above his eye, but it was cleaned up quickly and Zeller returned. If he isn’t careful he will look like a horror movie villians by the end of the season.

LaMelo Ball had a near triple double with 27 points, 9 rebounds, and 7 assists. Kelly Oubre Jr was right behind him with 26 points, 7 rebounds, and 5 assists. Bridges recorded 19 pts and Washington added 17 off the bench.

The Blazers move on to face the 76ers on their eastern coast road trip.
