According to Michael Scotto of Sheridan Hoops and the Associated Press, “Bucks are shopping Greg Monroe hard. He’s owed $17.1 million next season and has a $17.8 million player option for 2017-18 season.” This could potentially include the Trail Blazers, as Monroe is someone that Neil Olshey has shown great interest in acquiring in the past. They were first linked to Monroe in 2014 when there was talk of a sign-and-trade with Detroit and then he was mentioned as a coveted piece last summer when Neil Olshey attempted to sign him as an unrestricted free agent. The Bucks have been reportedly trying to dump Monroe since before the trade deadline and the Blazers are constantly mentioned as one of the possible destinations.

Is this someone you’d like to see the Blazers acquire? What kind of trade do you think it would take to bring Monroe here, and what would it do to our cap space for free agency? We’ll keep you posted and report any other rumors as we see them.

With him basically on a 1-year contract, I wouldn’t give up much more than cap space and either Plumlee or Davis. Then a defensive minded center is needed unless you think Meyers comes back at his best position of a stretch-5. Leonard is much better defensively as a ‘5’ than a ‘4’ but then Monroe would have to guard the PF and stretch-4’s.
