The Blazers have traded Nickeil Alexander – Walker and Tomas Satoransky in three way trade with the San Antonio Spurs and Utah Jazz. The Spurs get Tomas Satoransky and 2nd rnd pick in the deal, while the Jazz get Alexander -Walker from Portland and Juancho Hernangomez from San Antonio. The Blazers net Joe Ingles, Elijah Hughes, a future 2nd.
The Blazers traded guards for more guards…well and more cap room. Ingles is out for the season with a torn ACL and is an expiring contract. He already said he would retire If he were traded. Expect that to happen. He won’t ever suit up as a Blazer. His acquiring represents a further jettison of contracts to free up cap space for more flexibility before the deadline and this summer for free agency.
They also get Elijah Hughes another player to develop. Hughes is a shooter short and simple. A 3pt machine shooting 35% on his career. He is uncanny in his ability to hit the three spot up or in transition. He is an excellent cutter though struggles to shoot inside the arc. He is not a great defender or ball handler. He is still young.
