Losing the Kawhi Leonard sweepstakes hurt, especially losing  him to the Clippers. Before then the Lakers were the odds on winners in Vegas to take the NBA Championship next season. Even after, Vegas has them with the second best odds to win. They might be off, more than a bit. It is doubtful Lebron and Davis can play over 60 games. The Lakers were able to get a handful of role players in lieu of Leonard. Will Danny Green, Avery Bradley, Jared Dudley, Quinn Cook, and Troy Daniels be enough? Not to mention a broken DeMarcus Cousins who was no where near the player he used to be last season after returning from a torn Achilles.

Enough to get them to the playoffs, most likely, but the first championship in LA sans Kobe Bryant, probably not going to happen. At best the Lakers will make the postseason and the 2nd round. We will see how healthy James and Davis can stay. It will all depend on that. That said, they could do better than 7th, in a wide open west, but it doesn’t look like it from where I am sitting.
