The Detroit pistons did themselves a solid signing Derrick Rose, who reignited his career last season in Minnesota. They won’t be missing Jose Calderon at all. Tony Snell, Markieff Morris, and Christian Wood are all solid role players. Sekou Doumbouya will be interesting to watch. The 6’9 French Forward has a lot of potential. I could see him being a player in the vein of Pascal Siakam or at least Maurice Harkless. He can shoot a smooth 3 and doesn’t lack athleticism, but he has some holes to fill in his game. That is going to take some time.
The Pistons are looking better this season than last, but there won’t be much of a difference when it comes to wins. While Rose, Snell, and Morris would seemingly give them more W’s, Most of the other 29 NBA teams got better. I could see Detroit making the playoffs again, but it will depend on if Star power forward Blake Griffin can stay healthy. He has been plagued by injuries the past four seasons. He hasn’t played a full 82 games since his rookie season, and just underwent an unspecified knee surgery at the end of the season. There has been rumors that he will be moved at the deadline. That will depend on how well the Pistons do to start the season, and how healthy he is.
